There's a huge commercial application, even commercial incentive when it comes to transhumanism. We are the most likely scenario is that we will stumble into this future in a piecemeal way because certain things get invented. And just as with the internet and social media, we find that once they've been invented, they create problems that we weren't anticipating before.
