The Hato Yama Family in Japan

The Hato Yama's are a name that rings large across the history of Japanese politics. The vast majority of Japan's elections have had at least one Hato Yamas standing for office in them. They've won more than they've lost, and with very good reason. Their story is going to seem pretty familiar: disaffected samurai from a domain that did not do well out of the end of feudalism gets political and joins a political party.
