The Immediate Aim of Science

The immediate aim of science, for de boys, quite generally, is actually explicitly political. So the point of keeping science around is exactly in order to make wiser political decisions. Ultimately, the means by which science has influence is by persuading people. And what it takes is trust. People need to believe scientists when they tell them things. But if you came't with very good information about how to increase crop yields, but farmers don't believe you then it's kind of ival here nor there that you did that.
