Is There a 20 Point Gap Between Young and Old?

There's this old adage that as people grow up they become more conservative. Do you think that's still true? Was that ever true? It was true we've got US and British studies that show about a 20 point change between under 25 and over 65. I don't see how that's going to be changed by acquiring material possessions because it's fundamentally a spiritual and cultural thing, not a material thing.
