The History of Coal Consumption
2022 was the year because of the rise in gas prices. We needed to lose gas demand by quite a bit and what other sources of fuel were available well in the case of Germany. They postponed the retirement plans for the coal plants so the market essentially reached for coal to keep the lights on. So that differential between 6 billion tons being produced and 8 billion tons being consumed was that 2 billion tons coming out of storage? Oh definitely not.
