The Effects of Strong Gravitational Lensing on Images
This is in effect, we call strong lensing where it's very obvious looking at an image that something is lensing at. If the star is like right behind the black hole, obviously you'd have to bend it way more. So most of the time when we work with this, I've given the star black hole example. We're looking at distant galaxies as the light sources and other galaxies or even clusters of galaxies as the lenses. Even if they aren't being lensed, you're going to have some interesting shape to the galaxy.
