The Stock Market's Oblivious to the Economic Softening

I just feel like every week that we have these conversations, more or less, everyone's saying the same thing, the economy's softening, it's going to get worse. I would love for a situation where everybody just lays off 5% of their staff and we go on and get five as usual. But how about this? I think there has to be a reason for stocks to roll over, right?
