The Hard Problem of Consciousness

There is nothing about physical parameters in terms of which we could deduce the qualities of experience at least in principle. We replaced the map with the territory, and materialism tries to replace the world with its description before trying to pull the world out of the description. That's one problem of materialism. Number two is the dog chasing its own tail. You cannot explain mind in terms purely of an abstract theoretical abstraction of mind. On account of parsimony, you should not multiply your postulated theoretical entities. And so materialism is not quite as intuitive as we like to think about.
