"I find scholarship can be a relatively objective metric to appeal to in the context of apologetics," he says. "People sometimes are real negative about scholarship and I do think that's unhelpful" He argues there is a false equivalence drawn between infallibility, immutability or immunity on one hand and more general statements like undefiled church being necessary for its purpose.
