In the world, there's one thing that gives you respect for other is character. And in this film we see that what some people might take 20 years of therapy to achieve, she make this journey through the span of the film. In fact, her trajectory throughout the film is very deep and very profound, but it's only indicated at the end by her ability to touch her mother's hand. I'm very moved by the scene you pointed out because they are very important. It was actually two-shepherds in the same world, and they were very passionate about it.
