Introduction
Kenan Malik is the author of a number of books on intellectual history and political thought concerning questions such as race human nature multiculturalism and free speech. The last time Kenan was on we were talking about migration and borders but his latest book is on race and racism specifically he has recently come out with a book which came out last month not so black and white, a history of race from white supremacy to identity politics. In one sense what's at the heart of this book is that we live in an age in which our thinking is saturated with identity ernism with putting people into racial and ethnic boxes the more we despise racial thinking the more we seem to cling to it.
