Hayyoon was designed by a friend of Peter Hayden's, an artist and designer named Joseph Kinabrew. The two were visiting the Hayden's one night in 1978 when a massive blizzard came through and snowed the man. They decided to build Hay Eun at the same spot where they got drunk with a burning newspaper. "I found it kind of oddly reassuring that the creation of Hay Eun came out of the same sort of drunken antics my friends and I would get into almost two decades later"
