In mediaeval europe, there would be lots of rules for specific uses that tended to be offensive. They would say, you know, hey, if you want to operate a tannery or a slaughter house, you have to be maybe outside the municipal limits and so far away from where residences are. We had stuff like that before zoning. And as i'll mabe well talk about later in this conversation, cities that don't have zoning still have stuff like that.
