The Orphaned Planet

Captain May made the choice to deviate from their course after Lacuna had told her about a rogue planet not gravitationally bound to any star detectable by its far-infrared thermal emissions. Nomad was only a little bigger than Earth, and had its own moon, which had made Captain May so excited that her eyes shone. They'd gathered more data on the orphaned planet that the crew had nicknamed Nomad as they'd come closer to it. Despite being sunless, the little rogue planet still had heat, much to the interest of the entire crew.
