In October of 1981, four months after the murders at Via Dela Rico, the killer drove out into the flower-covered Bartolene fields just west of Florence. The open fields were shaded by mountains, making them the perfect place for couples to park and play. He was already waiting in the shadows when Stefan O'Baldi's black VW golf slowed to a stop in the middle of the pasture. As soon as the couple finished making love, the killer made his move. Then he dragged Susanna's naked body from the car, cut out her vagina as a trophy, and posed her mutilated corpse in the field of flowers.
