Our friend jean survived the disaster at cresy, unlike many of his compatriots in chivalry. He would not have seen the failures of french knighthood as an indictment of chivalry itself. Too much fine food, fancy clothing had made them soft and unaccustomed to the rigours of war. Plundering with abandon was perfectly ok with sharney, as long as it didn't interfere with a man at ams responsibilities.
