Techno Utopianism

At the end of the Cold War, Western powers and their neoliberal structures had triumphed. But it was neoliberalism itself which set the scene for those very powers not to seek to reorder the world but instead to let unfettered markets dominate. An element accelerating this embrace was the fall of the Soviet Union between 1989 and 1991. The IT revolution burst upon the US, Europe and part of the promise of techno utopianism was that one could eliminate market risk. And if you had perfect markets what need was there for a state to come in and correct market imperfections? We're starting to see a thread here.
