Sorcerer started out as sorcer, got an extra ercause that's magic. Wizard arrived in english about 600 years ago and it was a combination of wyse and ard because wizards were sages. Witch is from the old English word witch, spelt w i c c e. And by extension, it came to mean people who associated with the devil. It's now considered by some pagans to be an offensive term.
