Recovering Faster From Stress When There's Just a Few Natural Sounds in the Background

A study at Penn State University found that recover from stress happens quicker if you play back subtle natural sounds. It's quite likely that this is part of our evolutionary heritage because when you're out in nature, silence is actually a rare thing. You really know when it's too quiet and it does make you uncomfortable. We can only do so much by putting up quiet signs as there are still helicopters and roads nearby.
