The World Needs One More Person to Sing Something Over the Rainbow

It sounds to me like she's singing just a little bit higher than is comfortable for her at the very top of her range. I don't know if it truly is or if she's just good enough to make it sound like that. But it makes for an extra emotional effect. It sounds very similar to Marvin Gaye on I Heard It Through The Grapevine and David Ruffin on Ain't Too Proud to Beg. Both of which came before this, it was deliberately arranged in a key that was just a little uncomfortable for them to sing. And so that was how you get that heightened emotional effect. And it really works well.
