Ragan was the first president since herbert hoover who really wanted to take down the big state established by democrats. He saw big states as putting any society, america included, on the road to a form of communist servitude. So he is no engenu and we have to understand his folkiness for what it is, an actor acting out a role to make himself seem very popular. Folke: Regan mayhave been a failed movie star, but he was not a failed politician.
