Cornelies van dorse is a consultant who works with individual shipping companies. He told CNN how big a problem low water levels are for the industry as a whole. Under normal conditions, an inland ship may have a draft of four meters. But if this drafht is restricted to maybe one and a half or even less, you can take less cargo than you can do at four meters. So so wou have only a few dcimetrs ofof cargo loading capacity under normal conditions.
