I Don't Know What I Didn't Understand

i would go home and i would actually rewrite the notes that i took in class. And by the process of writing, i would realize, oh, i don't know this idea. I mean, i thought i knew it, or i thought i could like, superficially know it and sort of shove it under the rug but i cannot proceed from the first sentence of this proof to the second one without filling in this gap. By the process ofWriting things down, i would identify what i did not know, and i wouldn't go on to write the next sentence until i filled up that gap and got that bit of knowledge that i didn't understand.
