The Impotence of the Master Signifier
'Your politics always needs a like a master to defy, because that's how you know you're right,' he says. 'There has to be a signifier that you believe inlikeat mi point, there has to be an end period', adds the philosopher. He also compares it to fundamentalist christianity and his own belief in its impotence. "That's what separates it from cynicism," argues Mr Bercow.
