The idea of sharing the benefits of ocean resources legally only applies to the international seabed. The developing countries in the 1970s really pushed for this it was part of their broader agenda to create a new international economic order. There are still neo-colonial dynamics in the law of the sea i would say that that framework of thinking about international interactions of colonialism is still very relevant what does it say about our current geopolitics?
