As an undergrad I was taught a book called Mind design by John Hoeklin. It collected some of the most influential papers on the computational theory of cognition. That was a very difficult book even for me and I was a philosophy major. The main highlight is that there's something different about the kind of computation that the mind does versus A Turing machine.
