"I'm surrounded by my bandmates and it feels like we're in another century," says first chair trumpet player Michael Hounshell. But something isn't quite right when he plays his solo: His breathing is too shallow, the muscles on his face are trembling. The weight of everything crystallizes into this one moment - all the people I care about who rely on me.
