Grenfell and Hunt wanted to find manuscripts, but how do you go out and find in manuscript? They did know that there was this city Oxirinkus and they tried to find the garbage dump. I think it was their teacher Frederick Fivy who speculated that these mounds might actually be mounds that have documentary leftovers. So early on in their dig, they find this thing. It's this little scrap of papyrus and there's this saying of Jesus on it,. But they don't know it's the gospel of Thomas at this point. Right.
