Arobic and resistance exercise both have antidepressive effects. Walking is particularly good, especialy if it gets you outside. You get some sun on your skin, you get vitam an d levels increased. Most people that are depressed are ging to have some form of antedonia. So actually getting out and doing the exercise, it's going to be one of the biggest barriers you might even want to exercise.
