I think it's good to start out with improv, but not like a high stakes improv. Like you are this person and I am this person and this is what we're doing. There's no other important details. It's best to have the idea of who and what you're role playing,. But then just improv the actual words that you're saying in the moment. You don't want to make your partner feel like you're making fun of them at all.
