The Separated Soul
Aristotle does not say much about the separated soul or the human soul after death. Thomas Aquinas is rather very explicit about this. The human soul can survive death maybe, but it's not able to flourish or function as it ought by nature. We are supposed to live as in soul bodies. When our souls exist separately, we human beings are dead. This is a key part of Aquinas' understanding of the Christian doctrine of the resurrection of the body.
