The Importance of Structure in Novel Writing

At the moment, it's really just desk, some books, a heater. And it's quite minimalist. I don't know whether that's because you're not writing currently and maybe there are more things up on the walls when you are. Well, what I look onto would be peppered with post-its, which would be the structure of the novel. Okay. So you are somebody who does quite a lot of structuring on paper before you sit down and write? No, I'm not. In fact, I'm the opposite. So that post-it stage happens after the first draft.
