Study shows that primates in africa and asia have increased levels of resistance to alpha neritoxins, which are carried in the venom of some vipers. But i want to move past these discussions of evolutionary defences to talk about the history of anti venum therapy. Snake's feature prominently throughout human history and culture. And this duality, i think, is really interesting when we think about how snake venoms can kill, but also how they can be used as highly effective medications.
