How to Treat Perforated Otitis Media

If a child's middle ear is perforated on presentation, you should still put the patient on drops. You want to treat those patients with oral antibiotics because that perforation may very well close before the antibiotic goes. Fluoroquinolones are generally better than amino glycosides when it comes to keeping an eye out for signs and symptoms of ototoxicity. Some people think there's almost any significant difference among them but I don't really know how they compare.
