The chinese court had to contend with the fact that these were not localized tribes, but rather one large kingdom. And it was difficult because of intelligence gathering and so on. But a, they didn't largely have any conflict towards india. There were always skirmishes along the border that could have been traced,. for example, with the emperor and o the kingdom in ladar, or across tebec - things like that. So those were regular features of the border, but they aren't truly considered in chinese history.
