This week's episode is all about microbes. You can think of plants as tiny ecosystems colonized by these little microbes that do all kinds of things. A mimic plant might actually be able to communicate in some way or be influenced by the microbes of the plants around it. It could involve something called horizontal gene transfer or HGT.
In the temperate rainforests of Chile, there is a vine that can shapeshift to copy the look of other plants. But how? Can it... see them? Or is something weirder happening?
