Is There a Science or Science?

In the haydayer capicoanonis you were criticised for disagreeing with official pronouncements. Now we have a thing where there actually is scientific, not scientific insensus. We've moved to something that feels almost like the clergy and the pre reformation church. There is orthodoxy, and we're here to impose it, and woe betide the academic who dissents from the orthodoxy. It's certainly true in my field. Is it true and your field? I didn't never felt like that before the penedemic.
