The Lunation Cycle

The Lunation cycle itself can be divided in half, essentially, and into two separate parts. At the conjunction of the new moon, that's the beginning of the cycle. And then the first half of that all the way up to the exact opposition, that is the waxing part of the phase when the moon is increasing in light. Once you're at 100%, you switch automatically into the second phase of the cycle, which is the waning cycle. It decreases and it goes to like 75% brightness, then to 50%. Then eventually, it ends the cycle completely dark at the new moon.
