I think the episode was there to show us two things. It was the episode in miniature, the way that these little tiny power struggles in this family are impacting society in the world. The other one was just to remind us how far Greg has descended as a character. And then I think the last two or three episodes, is it that his grief is playing out with him trying to be his dad?
