Twitter, Facebook and other social media companies were resistant to the idea of advertising in their consumer apps. In 2010, that's what Twitter was going to do with its app: trade your attention for advertiser money. But as they built up a local sales force, it is very expensive because you have to go to each coffee shop,. And the manager is not empowered to spend $100 on these ads. The joke in the location space has always been like it's impossible. It's impossible to succeed in the location ad sales spaces due to cost.
