How Did Your Mother Come to the UK After the Second World War?
I'm incredibly proud of my Guianese heritage. My parents were part of that generation that came to the UK after the Second World War, what we call the Windrush generation. And in your mother's case, what was she doing? She came towards the back end of the 60s. She was very much a country girl, very shy, Christian woman. On the side, she sold Avon Makeup and Tupperware. I mean, no doubt about it. She was my best friend. But she died really too young from ovarian cancer in her 60s. We're going to get emotional because she was a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful human being.
