The Importance of Perception and Action in Life
The act of writing and reading a book is an act of translation from space into time. It's translating this kind of three dimensional thing that you have in space that's always immediate into this ordered one dimensional thing, which is a series of words. And it's more extreme in the written form, which of course is quite new. We have to always remind ourselves that writing is only a few thousand years old,. Or a speech is much, much older.
