Trade Unionism Is Not a Cartel
John Stuart Mill in the early 19th century was saying it's fine to criminalize trade unionism basically because it breaks with a kind of completely individualistic liberal conception of what freedom is and property rights should be. It wasn't till the 1870s in Britain that it isn't illegal to be in a union that you're not charged with conspiracy if you try to form a union. Strikes were seen as them as revolutionary actions ways in which you could fundamentally change society sort of revolutionary way.
