You end up with a debate between dignity as an intrinsic quality of human beings, as opposed to an extrinsic or perhaps performed quality. How do you respond to the inevitable objectors that will say, well, what happens to human dignity when you make it non-entrinsic? We all in some dimensions of our life are struggling against domination and in other dimensions that ever are occupying the position of mastery. And so this too dies dignity... To attend to our dignity is to interrogate these different aspects of our lives," he says.
