The Cosmological Constant Is Not Zero

In the 1980s, there was in fact exactly one person who predicted it. It will depend on the properties of quantum gravity. But probably if any kind of sensible theory of quantum gravity would imply it has some non-zero value,. And so people were confused and they thought maybe there's some theoretical explanation that it doesn't exist. If you think generically our values are round one, but you can only observe it if the value was close to zero.
