The author says the biggest challenge was often the wind. Two people canoe makes a world of difference, but with one person it gets difficult in ways that maybe aren't immediately obvious. When you're on an arctic lake, it can be very difficult to make heads or tails of a the outline of the lake because you might not be bout to see what's going on.

We live in a noisy world by any estimation. And while we need people, we also need solitude.

This week I’m speaking with Adam Shoalts, who was named one of the “greatest living explorers” by Canadian Geographic. Adam is an author, speaker, and adventurer who has learned to tap into the rejuvenating power of solitude.

In our conversation, Adam reminds us about the importance of the solo adventure in life to reconnect with ourself and rediscover what matters most. I hope you will feel inspired to create more space than you have right now.
