Is There a Pandemic?
I started writing around christmas last year. And were you channelling your own sense of clostephobia and frustration through kate's reaction? Not entirely. We'd moved to ireland in the summer, so i wasn't actually in england for that second lock down. Shortly after that, but not during it. So i think i had the distance from it that i needed to be able to write about it. Did you have a bit of wariness? I meen, a lot of novelists were talking at the time about sort of shying away slightly from pandemic novels. What was your feeling about that? I'm still slightly puzzled by that.
