Is There a Third Way?

A lot of our conversation about Catholicism and politics strikes me as exceedingly petty, that it doesn't really have to do with a desire to revivify the city of God. I think a large reason for that is because we have forgotten just how important Christianity really is. We're not going to win in the world if we don't convert people through conversion to the truth. And this has happened before, right? This isn't hopeless. The Romans were converted by shelling them wet so they could see there was a social order based on beauty rather than violence or greed. It's like we are extracting ourselves from their power structure while simultaneously being helpless against us.
