If a people can't voluntarily suppress their base or instincts and desires because they're selfish, then that's when you're going to legislate the brains out of the people. And what you'll end up with is a soft dictatorship, which is better than a hard dictatorship. We're headed towards soft totalitarianism. Love turned in on itself.
