The Importance of Y'all in Academic Circles

Y'all is the word that I actually have seen people, you know, educated people use. And it's really with everybody's trying to cope with the fact that we now only have one you by making a new plural you and the way that you do it is highly dependent on geography. There are pieces by people online who are talking about how in addition to having to learn how to be a scholar, they had to learning how to speak standard American English because using things like y'all was inhibiting their ability to be taken seriously.
